Islette is a cropped cardigan that maybe worn 3 ways- fully closed and buttoned behind the neck, buttoned with the single button in front and left drapey, or unbuttoned with the fronts allowed to flow open. The body is worked from the bottom up and the sleeves are knit by picking up and working short row sleeve caps and are then knit down in the round. The simple construction and lace panels make for a fun and easy knit. Shepard Sport from Lorna’s Laces allows for the perfect drape and texture.

Finished measurements at bust: 30 ¼ (33, 36, 39, 42, 44 ¾, 47 ¾, 50 ½, 53 ½)”

Materials:
Shepard Sport by Lorna’s Laces (100% superwash merino; 70 gram skein= approx 200 yds)
• 5 (5, 5, 6, 6, 6, 7, 7, 7) skeins 60NS Waistcoat
• Approx yards: 830 (890, 965, 1015, 1070, 1155, 1255, 1275, 1345) yards
Needles
• One 29” circular (circ) needle size US 5 (3.75 mm). (pc is worked flat circ needle is used to accommodate large number of sts)
• One set of double pointed needles (dpns) size US 5 (3.75 mm). (for sleeves)
Or size to obtain gauge.
Notions
• Stitch markers (m)
• Large stitch holders or waste yarn
• One 5/8” button

Gauge: 22 sts and 36 rows = 4” in Stockinette Stitch (St st). Take time to save time, check your gauge.

Tideway

I am so excited about the weather warming up! I can’t wait to not have to wear a coat and be able to go out with just a sweater, this sweater particularly. Tideway is knit from the top down, in the round, in one piece, in beautiful, soft, cozy, extraordinary Beaverslide’s 90% Wool/ 10% Kid Mohair yarn.

Finished Measurements at bust: 33 ½ (36 ½, 39 ½, 42 ½, 45 ½, 48 ½, 51 ½, 54 ½)”

Sample size: 33 1/2”, shown with ½” of negative ease.

Materials:

90% Wool/ 10% Kid Mohair by Beaverslide Dry Goods (90% merino, 10% kid mohair; 4 oz skein = approx 241 yards)

• 4 (4, 5, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6) skeins Dusty Mallard

• Approx yards- 800 (890, 975, 1035, 1115, 1180, 1240, 1305)

Needles:

• One each 16″ and 29” circ needle size US 9 (5.5 mm). (for body)

• One set of double pointed needles (dpns) size US 9 (5.5 mm). (for sleeves)

Or size to obtain gauge.

Notions:

• Stitch markers

• Stitch holders or waste yarn

Figuring out what is appropriate to blog about…

I had a major change in my life last September and have since then caught myself debating whether or not to blog about it? This is a non-knitting personal post, so if you read my blog for my knitting updates you may want to skip this one….

I suddenly felt like I was keeping a secret rather than keeping my personal life to myself, so I have decided to do a quick post. Also, I have found that I still have not told some friends, the ones that I don’t see or talk to frequently enough, and was feeling bad that I had not told them (sorry loves, I hope you read this). My husband Ethan and I separated in September. It was truly the best thing for us to do and we remain and I believe always will be truly great friends and family to each other. We are both doing well and I think have heard our fill of very well meaning, sympathetic words.

Ethan and I were married 3 years ago (but had been together for 13!!!) and I in no way wish to take back any of the time we spent together. Still, it was a big change. The strangest part for me was finding a new routine, I did not expect this. It was daunting and exciting to find a new rhythm to my daily life, but I now feel that I am there. That is why I was not as prolific with my designing and blog posting this winter, I got caught up in my social life. And dating again, which after 13 years was much more fun than I remembered!

I hope that you all too are doing well and getting excited about the slowly approaching Spring.

Aslant

Aslant, knit in beautiful Smooshy from Dream in Color, is worked in one piece from the top down with raglan shaping. The collar is picked up and worked in a simple garter stitch rib pattern with increases to form slanting edges. Simple, but fun to knit and very cozy to wear.

Finished Measurement at Bust: 31 ¾ (34 ¾, 37 ¾, 41, 44, 47, 50, 53 ¼, 56 ¼)”

Sample size 34 3/4″, shown with 3/4″ positive ease.

Materials

Smooshy by Dream in Color (100% Superwash Merino; 450 yds / 100g)

• 4 (4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 5, 6) skeins 40 Navy Zeal

• Approx yards: 1430 (1490, 1610, 1745, 1855, 1965, 2095, 2215, 2330)

Needles

• One 29” circular needle size US 4 (3.5 mm) for yoke, body and collar.

• One set dpns size US 4 (3.5 mm) for sleeves.

Or size to obtain gauge.

• Stitch markers (m)

• Stitch holders or waste yarn

• Tapestry needle

Gauge: 26 sts and 34 rows = 4” in Stockinette Stitch (St st).

Wool, book four

The cover sweater above is a lovely top down cardigan/jacket in Puffin by Melissa.

And here are my two designs for Wool 4-

Sylvia is a top down cardi with the buttonband running diagonally down the front and a patch pocket with a sweet little cable. It is worked in Finch and the only seams are for the pocket.

River is also top down, it is knit in the round and is seamless. Worked in Osprey, this is a very quick knit!

It has been forever since I put out a new self published design, so here is Breaktide !

Breaktide is a cardigan with 3/4 length sleeves that is worked from the top down, in one piece, without seams. The body is in St st with a knitted in ribbed button band and ribbed bottom hem. The sleeve cuff and neck trims are worked in a very pretty, but easy to work slip stitch pattern.

Finished Measurements at bust- 32 (35, 38 ½, 42 ¼, 45 ¾, 49 ½, 53, 56 ¾, 60 ¼)”
Sample size: 35 ”, shown with 2” positive ease.

Materials:
Luxe Merino Fine by Kitchen Sink Dyeworks (80% superwash merino, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon) 120 gram skein = approx 390 yards
• 3 (3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5) skeins Dexter
• Approx yards- 820 (910, 990, 1080, 1170, 1240, 1375, 1475, 1570)

Landing begins shipping today!

I picked up my copies of Landing from the printer (the wonderful Puritan Press), yes that is how local they are, I could drive down and pick up books! I am beyond thrilled with their work and how incredibly professional, yet kind and personable they were to work with.
